Im going to be pulling my bed off with in the next week or two to replace my fuel pump. What have you guys used to coat the frame?
I want something that will remain black/one piece for a long time, meaning not peeling. Ive heard tons about lizard skin, but that stuff is a bit pricey. The rubber undercoating stuff at hardware stores is crap, looks like **** and comes off easily.
Any ideas? Preferably something I dont have to order?

How about a rust encapsulator / inhibitor like POR15? http://www.por15.com/

Thats the other stuff I was trying to think of.
Would rust inhibitor work well? Does it look nice and black when it dries? We have a bunch of that at work I can use, but never knew what it did.

If your gona use the POR you need to clean it to bare metal, then spary it down with water, let it rust.. POR doesn't stick to clean metal....
I would do that... It will def stay on and stay black...

I have some POR15 that I would sell you, I got it for a old project K5 that I had to sell(county wanted to fine me for not having it tagged)
I know that stuff work great if used right.

So a rust inhibitor wont stick to the factory coating/paint that is already there? I was thinking of getting the rust/dirt/some paint off, but not looking to take it to bare metal.

I like eastwoods rust encapsultor... i have used it several times still holding up. you and put it right on top of rust... Easy to use, and the material does not have to be 100% clean
