And that has what to do with me putting a better more comfortable stock on it? I agree it is historic, and price doesn't matter. But if I want one because it's historic, I'll buy another one and keep it that way.

just me, I hate to see a single bubba'd rifle is all. It's yours to do as you like, I just prefer them as the military issued. Enjoy it. BTW, I would shoulder ~300 rounds in a visit to the range of this caliber without pain.

A composite stock is "bubba'd"?

You modded your truck, that makes it mexicanized then right?

Looks like 8mmx50R was the first smokeless cartridge in 1886...

damn internet wiki!

How about the oldest military round still in service? It was only a few years newer than the lebel and who the heck counts a french round for anything? lol, the MAS?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7.62x54mmR

The 7.62x54mmR is the oldest cartridge still in regular combat service with several major armed forces in the world.

as long as you don't irreversibly alter the rifle so that when you come to your senses you can return it to original form

Theres nothing like owning a piece of History!!

I have a M1 Carbine and a M1 Garand both have seen their fair share of service, and i still shoot them in Hi-Power Service Rifle Competitions. Whats bad is that the Garand will out shoot my AR15. Both shooting issued ammo, AR is using LC M855 and the Garand is using 1968 M2 Ball. AR barrel is less than 3 years old and the Garands barrel is dated 1956

Here ya go scott,,, gotta get one of these now...
