with all that motor under there, there wont be much room for a front mount turbo, but its still got a bed to hide **** under
there will be a lot more room than under a fbody or vette. i am sure a turbo will fit under the hood.

I know the main change on the GEN IV motors it the 4x reluctor cam and 54x reluctor crank with obviously the cam sensor and knock sensors moved. I have heard there is going to be a small bore L92 style head but I dont believe that is out yet. Unless you have heard something to the contrary. Just thinking out loud here.

Since you dont like headers, maybe some C5 vette manifolds may be a worthwhile swap since they can be had for ~100 bucks and net a decent increase in flow while keeping everything quiet. The C6 Z06 manifolds may be a choice too but I think those are D port exhaust ports...
You could be right on the cylinder head stuff, I just made an ASSumption about them.

I'd only look into modifying the exhaust as a last resort.....NO MO' HEADERS!!!

Your going to need to tub that thing and put some Top Fuel sized meats under it.

I noticed the 5 banger option was $1,000, but when I built a SLE1 it kept the 5 speed manual option with the 5.3. I wish the website wouldn't lie like that.

Agreed on the front mount turbo.

I already had one!! It was the first car I bought new....

I think it would be cheaper to buy a salvaged one and stick in the engine I already have sitting in the garage!
