im kicking around the idea of selling the truck, and keeping my drivetrain for something lighter....of these trucks which is lightest?
85 pickup scsb shortbed---OR---1998 scsb silverado stepside? whichever truck would be a dedicated drag setup.

I know my 1984 K-10 scsb with an NP205 T-case and 35" tires was right at 5000 lbs with me in it, a toolbox and a 35" spare tire in the bed, so I could see a lot of room for weight reduction on a 2wd with normal size tires. No idea what a newer one weights I like the older styling better anyway.

my cousins 82' longbed with 17x11's weighed in at 3800lbs...!! I was surprised too, we weight it here at work so I know it is accurate.
stew pm Flaco, about 2 weeks ago he had a 85 shortbed for sale, it was already dropped and had a cam'd 350 with longtubes and all, Im pretty sure you can sale the drivetrain and get some $ back...

if i go through with this im guna swap a stock transmission and motor and rear end back into my truck and probably sell alot of the crap on it. nothing is in stone yet. it really sounds like a PITA!
i just caught myself looking at 92 camaro's. they weigh in at 3100 lbs and a ls1 swapped 3rd gen always sounded awesome to me
imagine my motor in a car that weighs 1300lbs less and more aerodynamic. the costs seem to add up bigtime on that swap though.

S10s aren't good looking? This is my old one.... I'll give you they don't have much room on the inside, but 2,650 lbs makes for a fun ride....

As for the original question, my 74 GMC 1500 stepside SBC/3 speed weighs 3400 +/-. Light for a truck, but still a pig.
