I think he's talking about the Gear Vendors unit he has.

No, he was talking about a "1st gear bounce" or something like that, meaning the wheelie wasn't done from a stop.

Dunno if that is what he was doing but its an old trick. On and off the gas several times to help bounce the front end up.
