Bingo.

The *** hit me in November of 05 I think. At that point I found out Allstate was only covering cars for book value plus $1000 so my agent said I needed a stated value policy to be "fully covered". After researching insurance for shipped vehicles I discovered state value policies are really only for the benefit of the insurance company -- extra premiums that only yield the lower of the three things mentioned in the first post (one of which is book value!!)

DAS (dependable auto shippers) -- ebay's only sanctioned shipping company -- is a bait and switch scheme. They "guaranteed" pick up by yesterday, extra catastrophic coverage for my truck, an enclosed trailer, and deliver by at least 8/22 -- and charged me extra for all this of course. They sent an open trailer yesterday, with no insurance (so a catastrophic loss would have netted me only blue book value for a stock SSS and no extra coverage for any of the extras), --all of which is normally less than 1/2 of what I had already paid according to the driver-- they hadn't even told the driver it was lowered... The driver thought they could push the truck onto the trailer using one of the other vehicles on the trailer Needless to say, that driver did not get my vehicle... Then when I called DAS to straighten it out yesterday, I was initially told it would be taken care of right away and I'd get a call back in 30 minutes, then when I called back in 1 hour was told the first person had given me wrong information and they had until 8/22 just to pick it up, but that she'd talk to the dispatcher and call me back in an hour... 6 hours later when I called back and got yet a 3rd person (who checked the computer and said "it says here you are scheduled for a pick up today" and made me explain it all for the 3rd time) who told me it would take 7-14 days to schedule a new driver and 7-14 additional days to deliver. **** DAS. I told her to credit my card immediately and went with another company who had 8 trucks in Florida all on the FL to new england run and who specialized in custom / exotic vehicles (and who was $300 cheaper than what DAS quoted).
