Default Started to open her up again :)

I finally replaced my non-op methanol pump this past week and started running the meth injection again. Started to lay into it a bit to get the tune dialed in. Damn it feels good to be able to play again! This is the first time I've really been able to open up the Rex 408, and it feels great! I took a run from a dead stop tonight and got the tires to squeal a little bit coming off the line without any brake stall (which I have never been able to do), and by the time the turbo spooled up and I hit about 3500 RPM the tires started to break loose They stopped spinning around 5500 RPM right before the 1-2 shift.

She's still running pretty rich and I'm only running 11.5* of timing up top for now. Boost controller is at it's lowest setting, which gives me about 9 psi at WOT. I can't wait to get the tune dialed in and start cranking up the boost This is what I've been waiting for for about 8 months!! I'll see if I can get some video tomorrow or Sunday.

Damn to have the power on tap and not being able to play with it for months would kill me. Good luck tuning it up.

Good deal! I'd personally be careful with the meth. If you tune for it to the max it can bite you in the ****. I once lived by the meth and died by it.

I don't have much choice. My engine starts to ping at about 8psi, meth is the only way that I've found to take care of that.

I'm glad to hear you are still with it, get that baby tuned and up to the "planed" boost level, it will be a monster

Maybe you need a new cam that will bleed a little cylinder pressure off. I'm no cam expert at all but, that one seems kinda "small". What compression ratio is the engine?

Engine is 9.4:1. Cam is a little small, but it's very street friendly and I have no desire to shift sky high in the RPM range. Right now I'm shifting around 5500-5700. Some of the detonation may be related to the oil in the take piping. I took the turbo in to have the seals replaced and the guy told me he didn't think there was anything wrong with it, but I have a feeling there is. Maybe once I get that cleared up the knocking will go away. The weird thing is that I can hear it but it never shows up on the scanner.

Yeah, I hear ya on the street friendly thing. I bet that is nice.

Definately get that oil cleaned up and maybe run some top engine cleaner through the engine too.

8psi on a 408 has gotta be pretty nice but, I bet 14psi is gonna be better.......anyone want to bet for real on that?

Oh yeah, what plugs are you running? Maybe step down to the next cooler plug and see if that helps any. Also, I wonder if it could be a backpressure issue in the exhaust.

Yeah a seafoam treatment might be in order. I'm trying to figure out if I need to run a breather setup and get rid of the PCV system. Then it might be time for a turbo rebuild.

I'm hoping for 10's this winter
