So I did a long term Prius test drive...

Well I was house sitting for 17 days and had been granted access to his car. First impression is I didn't fit to well and going to the store people walk out in front of it like its not there. Well after a week of driving it around I had burned a 1/4 of a tank and after 2 weeks I finished off the 1/2 tank it had. This is all city driving with a couple of freeway spurts. Went to the gas station and put $20 in bought me another half a tank. After
myself that I spent $10 a week for gas (I burn about $30 a week in my truck) i was sold.
Performance-I did race and kill a fullsize chevy on some 22" rims pretty sure it was a v-6 with 3 people in a standard cab and I couldn't see in the bed if there was junk. This was a 0-50 run and was pretty funny with just me in the car.
This thing has some good power from 0-40 the it just crawls to speed on the freeway. Passing power is well um yah like none.
42mpg with me driving is god damn impressive, if I needed a car I would not pass it up just because I don't like cars

If I wanted a 40+ mpg car I think I'd go for a TDI Jetta or something like that. Would be a lot more fun than a Prius, and I wouldn't look like a douchebag driving it. I dunno what it is about the Prius stigma, but I wouldn't be caught dead in one.

Congrats for being worse on the Environment than a Hummer.

Also, did you figure in how long it will take for you to break even vs just continuing to drive your truck? I bet it comes out pretty high cause aren't those Prius fairly expensive?
That's why I bought a 96' Cavalier that gets 30mpg and only costs me $1200.
