I have friends that recently moved to Lake Havasu. Just found out today that their Honda Passport (2000 or 2001) transmission went out. It's a 4x4, and she was quoted $4K to repair it.

If any of you could recommend/name off some salvage yards, or other sources for used transmissions, it would be appreciated. The Honda is gonna get towed back to their house, and they aren't in a BIG hurry to fix it. They just don't know where to look, and since I'm their "car guy" friend, they have asked me for some help here.

I have been to Precision Auto Parts and Xtra Mile Truck Salvage, both in Phoenix and somewhat close to Havasu. Both places are really straight up and aren't too expensive. The truck place might not have honda parts though

Quick search just turned up a compatible trans, from an 02 Isuzu Rodeo at Precision. 91k miles, have to call for price. 1-877-703-3583

Thanks for the info! They want $1100 for it, with a 6 month warranty. They can also send it to the repair shop in Lake Havasu for $85 via courier. Very friendly folks on the phone too.

I passed the info along to my friend, made her day.
