how can i get it off without harming the paint? some of it has been there for for a while. should i spray some bleach on it to soften it up? i was able to rub some off but i cant get all of it. thanks

Simple Green will take it off. Spray some on and let it soak for a few minutes. It won't hurt the paint.

Somehow I always get rubber behind my rear wheel as well. I can't remember the name of it (I think it's either Tar Off or Tar Eliminator or something along those lines) but you can get it at O'Reilly's for pretty cheap and it's always done good for me.

 

Castrol superclean works great on it.
