Default PS3 gurus inside...

Ok so I just bought a new 1080 LCD tv to watch football on and wanted a Blu Ray player too. I figured what the hell, I'll just get a PS3 since it's the same price anyway and play some games.

So today I bought Gran Turismo 5 and Call of Duty 4, haven't played them yet but I heard they're good. Are there some games that are a must get??? What is with the internet and the PS3... how does all that work?

Can you guys school me up on it?

must have God of War, blood, carnage, and gore, in HD.
internet thing is easy, you need a router and some cat 5 cable, unless you go wireless.
also need logitech 5.1 surround sound system, got to hear it all.

I've been hooked on Need for Speed Pro street for about 2 weeks. What kinda games do you like? Oh and I have mine done wirelessly, much simpler.

I have wireless internet on my laptop that uses a card from Verizon, will that work with the PS3 too?

I like fighting games like the Tekkens and James Bond style games. That Metal Gear Solid 4 looks pretty cool.

PappyDan, what is logitech 5.1? Is that like Dolby (well I really don't know WTF Dolby is anyway )
I do plan on getting a surround sound once I save up some more cash... Christmas time sounds good.

yep, the wireless setup is easy to do and works pretty well. You'll get a faster and better signal with a wired connection though. My modem and wireless router are 2 rooms over and my speed is pretty decent.

I strongly recommend Metal Gear Solid 4, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, Burnout Paradise, and Grand Theft Auto 4. Before you go buying a bunch of games, get on the Playstation Network and look for demos in the Playstation Store. You can also buy older games to download directly to the PS3 harddrive.

My PSN screenname is the same as here (and pretty much anywhere else I hang out on the web.)

Which PS3 system did you get? Some are completely backwards compatible with the millions of PS2 and PSOne games out there, but some aren't.

I got the PSEye, but kinda regret it since there aren't many games that use it yet. I'm wanting a DualShock3 controller, but I already have 2 regular ones, and I don't have any games that are for more than 2 players yet.
