Default Preffered MIG welder?

well i dont know if yall read my post but im going to be building bbq pits now, so i need to invest in a welder, i want to get a millermatic because ive used one for 3 years and i know its a good MIG, now i heard the Hobart MIG is damn good also, supposedly made by the same company that makes Miller, Liberty i think is the name of the company, anyways, the reason im leaning towards Hobart is because i can get a brand new 210 Amp MIG for 500 bucks cheaper then a 210 miller, so what do yall think? HOBART or MILLER??? thanks fellas
p.s. sorry if this thread is in the wrong place

I have been welding for a long time, have 100reds of hours of hood time and have used petty much every welding machine out there. If given a choice, I would take a Miller hands down every time. I have 2 in my garage right now.

The 210 is plenty for 1/4, but it's what ever you budget will allow for. A 250 will do pretty much anything you will ever come across.

Gotta go with Miller, too. I have a 185 (I think it's the predecessor to the 210) that I've been using since 1995 and All I do is light cleaning of dust and replace tips every so often (still on my first box of tips) and it keeps going. It hurt when I bought it ... $750 for hood, gloves, welder, big spool of wire (25 lb?), argon tank and regulator... but I've run about 200 lbs of wire through it and never a problem.

Stay away from flux core wire, though... it sucks!

Millers here to, @ home and the shop. The 250 would be the better choice, you wont be as limited. Good Luck, post up some pics of your projects. Building BBQ pits sounds like a good time.

I really couldnt tell a difference between the tigs but i actually preferred the hobart over the miller. We only had millermatic 250s and i liked them fine. I could weld your *** cheaks together with one of those....
