Default oh no, not me, i'm too smart for that.

my wife just got caught.

HOOK, LINE, and SINKER.

a fake legit looking paypal e mail sent to my wife.
it said something was wrong and her access was limted.
she clicked the link, and followed the instructions and
filled out all of her information including password.

when i got home from work she was finishing up, and asked
me if i got anything on my mail account that was the same.

frist thing i did was ask her to show me.
she brought it up and i asked her to click the link.

she clicked the link and guess what popped up.
OOPs web address unknown, would you like to search for paypal.

i asked her to move over and went to work.
went to paypals site, logged in and changed everything.
forward the e mail to their security center.
so now our account is being watched for any funny stuff.

if you think it wont happen to you, they went phishing and just
caught my wife.

Yeah, I had the same thing happen to me. I didn't click the link, I called paypal's help line and they told me it was a scam and to forward their email address to them. I get them every once in a while. I just forward the email and delete it. Hope they don't mess with her account. That would suck.

if nobody fell for these scams then they would stop. I sometimes wonder at the millions of dollars that are made by these scammers....I wish there was a way to spike their computers but the reality is that people respond to them, and they make a living so they keep sending the junk and I'll just have to keep deleting it.

I make it very clear in our shop not to answer that crap and both the owner and our estimator did that very thing. The owner did it and didn't mention it for like three weeks. He said he was having issues with his card 3 weeks later. He found out later they got his credit card info from paypal and slaughtered his VISA account.

It's not like its that difficult to look at the address bar and see that it doesn't say paypal.

I always click them and pretend to sign in by typing a bunch of stupid **** for them to read.
