Hmmm, that's a good idea! I bought my house and garage with plywood screwed to the bottom of the rafters and painted white, while the attic has no floor and just random **** left up there from the previous owners. 2 incadescent light bulb fixtures for a big 2 car garage sucks, so I think I might steal your idea!

then after it is rocked and painted you trim the hole with ceiling grid. the T bars. after that you just slip the light up in the hole at an angle and drop it into place. you have to use 2' section of grid between the lights just to make it look clean.
when you get done you have some serious light that is flush with the ceiling. lights are about $40 each. lamps are cheap. the fire in pretty cold weather, something like 0deg or 20deg.

yep, that tubing is for radiant heat. not 100% sure i will use it on the big side but i will use it for sure on the smaller side. i plan on keeping the small side comfortable all the time but might leave the big side without climate control other than right when i am out there and the radiant heat will be too slow to react for that.

No day better than the present!! Do it now and that way you won't have to redo-it later and then have a small water-heater to sell.
Edit on second thought...Solar panels in Nebraska winter when you really need the floor to be heated?? You guys have enough sun? If so put the panels at a steep angle so the snow slides off.
