probably going to go with a 2 post but not the overhead type. something like this. the higher part of the cieling will be at least 10'8" tall. i should be able to get the frame of a truck close to 6' high. i thought about going higher but the building all ready looks huge and i wont be doing that much work where i need a truck that high. any car will be able to go pleanty high. there there is always the option to modify a few trusses if i decide i need a little more height. i think that is a 2x12 bottom cord. i could mess with those and get another 6" or so right where the lift is going to be. hmm.

I highly recommend an asemetric lift. It sets the vehicle back so you can open the doors. And extra wide as well. I have a Bend Pak 10k lb asemetric extra wide and I love it. It is the overhead cable though. I definately don't like the idea of the under cable due to a tranny jack and trying to manuver one over the hump. If you had the gable and trusses turned the opposite way you could put the 12' posts between them but modifying the trusses later wouldn't be a big deal. I got mine from e-autolifts.com and it is american made.

Sweet choice, and i get what your saying, just like a recess in the ceiling around here people do it to allow for ceiling fans in their double wides. Should be a sweet setup! Well except for tall people! haha

I have seen people cut out a place in the floor so it sets flush and doesn't cause an issue.

Yep, the asymmetric come in handy. Dad has a symmetric 7,500lb Mohawk lift and getting in and out of the car can be tricky at times.
