No Clue What Type of Truck I should Buy
#1
I know tons about sports cars but have only admired the trucks from afar. I think I really want to invest in one but I don't know which make or model best suits me. So, if someone could point me in the right direction fill me in on what's out there good/bad I'd really appreciate it.
Pretty much I want a performance truck. Nothing huge, yet something that can handle the Pittsburgh weather and still open up darn well on dry roads.
I really love this truck I found in the for sale section here
https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...d.php?t=398017
It has a very sporty look, sexy body, sits fairly low (don't want anything too low), and seems to have the performance I would enjoy.
I would also want something I can modify down the line, maybe throw a SC on, chips, etc.
I'm looking to spend 10-15k, MAYBE 20k range if I really like it.
Any suggestions on where to start looking so I can further my research? Dodge, Chevy?? Any specific models you think I would like and other important info please fill me in.

If you want a "performance truck" and dont want to haul people everywhere you go get a regular cab with some miles, pull out the 4.8/5.3 and drop in a 6.0L.
Throw some good rims/tires and a hotchkiss suspension TVS kit on it, maybe a turbo and super. This would be very easy to pull off for 20K!

if you want gas mileage, relaibility, performance, or good looks, ( any 1 of those) get a Gm truck.
id suggest a 99-06 reg cab short bed with v8 and several miles on it. then swap out the motor for a 6.0 and get a built trans and some sort of power adder(TC, SC, n2o) and have fun

Thanks for the input. Again I'm new when it comes to trucks so I have a few more basic questions. So far the GM's have caught my interest, so that's good. Specifically the Silverado SS, but that might be out of my price range.
How are the GMC's with the LS1 swap?
Is it realistic to buy an older Silverado and eventually swap in the SS stock engine and go from there?

Here's a GMC with a Swap already done that is in your price range.
