Damn, cops are strict in your town.
Friend of mine drove his procharged BBF that has been 8.90s @ 154mph from his shop to a car show and the cops didn't do anything but give him a thumbs up. We also cruise around in a friends '95 TA, runs 9.80s, and has bullet mufflers with turndowns.
Now loud music or window tint is a totally different story.

What a douche. I got pulled over for having some blue lights on inside my cab (in my blazer) and had to leave it running cuz I had a bad cell in my battery. The cop started complimenting me and when I asked if it was too loud he said "nah, just don't rap it out". This was at like 2am.
I can't imagine them climbing under the truck to see if it's loud. Wouldn't they just ask you to start it? If it's not loud its obviously fixed. IF they want a receipt you did it yourself.

Cops here will get under the truck to check. 50 state law, if it came with cats on it from the factory, it has to have them on it. Diesels are the exception to the rule. Here you must have cats and a muffler on the vehicle. Glass packs do not qualify as mufflers. The fine here is $350 for a ticket without fixing it, $150 if you bring proof of repairing the exhaust. I have gotten one ticket, for no muffler. I got a fake reciept, and went to court. They asked if they could inspect my truck and I told them they would have to drive to Alabama as I had sold it 2 weeks earlier, but that they were welcome to inspect my new truck. I was there the same day as a buddy who had true dual straight pipes on his truck, if you got under his truck it was straight back except the little demple over the axle, he got a ticket for speeding, too loud, no mufflers, and shooting flames from his tailpipe. He didn't listen to me, and he got stuck with about $550 in fines that day.
