Need some help here..

I sold my old beater car, a 1993 Nissan 240sx about two months ago for a nice profit. Well yesterday I received a ticket in the mail for running a redlight under the VIN for the 240sx. So obviously this kid hasn't registered the car under his name yet. I filled out all the ppwk from TXdot online and gave it to him thinking it would be taken care of so I suppose I am at fault there. I found the receipt I had made for the purchase but the phone number for the kid no longer works when I call. Is there anything I can do to have this problem resolved? It's only a $75 ticket, but I don't want this to keep happening.

I would call the court/DMV and let them know you don't own the car any longer. I don't know the Texas laws, but I can't see that you will be held responsible for something you don't own. I would definitely not just pay the ticket you need to make sure your name gets cleared of that car.

I don't know, but my dad had this happen to him a long time ago with a car he traded in to a dealership, they never titled it and were demo driving it, collecting parking tickets and traffic tickets left and right. My dad had contacted TXdot constantly showing them the paperwork and telling them he didn't own the car anymore, they actually put out a warrant for his arrest even with proof of trade-in. Hopefully you get it worked out.
NEVER sell a car and trust that the buyer will register it.

I've always removed my plates when I've sold my trucks. You bought and paid for them, and they're not transferable. There's some form that you can fill out, saying that you no longer own the car, it not up to you to hunt someone down.
