msconfig is a diagnostic tool, not a repair. I cannot make that any plainer. It is not meant to be a permanent solution and brings on all sorts of other issues if you don't repair the problem correctly. If your computer is booting slow, that is the problem your trying to fix.

If your computer is slow, I can edit the registry properly, and remove hidden temp files, and speed up your computer correctly. I have 20 years experience in computer diagnostics and repair. My specialty is speeding up systems and virus/malware removal.

You can disable a startup command in msconfig, and it still will not boot as quickly as if that same command was removed correctly.

Turn off MSconfig, reboot, then run the avg tune up.

x2 on the remote login. I built my computer about a year ago and it seems to be slowing down recently. free avg installed currently.

 

Kill AVG. They recently did an update that is dragging everything down. Remove it and download bitdefender free. Much less drain on the system and works well.

 

Download and run ADW cleaner. If you google search it, the website will be toolslib.net for a good download.
