ok here is a comparable one, look at the price. http://kansascity.craigslist.org/cto/2057065115.html

a 4.8v8 will get better gas mileage the a 4.3. i didn't say anything about 150,00 miles. check craigslist or even autotrader and you'll see 99-05 with 50-70k miles for 6-9 all day.

Same thing i was thinking, my 5.3 got better mileage (stock) highway and city than a friend with the same truck in V6 form, and like you said 05+ trucks for around that price with 70k and under mileage wise. 06 4x4 RCSB SLE 5.3 here with mid 60s for 8k

There's a guy here in town that said he's getting 16-17 in town with his 4.3... I'm getting 12-14.

What do you guys think of this one.

Another reason I'm looking at the 4.3 is because it's cheaper, even if the economy is roughly the same, the pickup itself will be cheaper, and I'd like something with something around 50k or less in mileage.

I've found a 2008 4.3L with 28,000 miles closer to me than the 06, they're asking just shy of 15. This one has the auto trans and a CD/AM/FM

Screw it... I think you're all right, I'm gonna hold on to my truck and keep it as the DD for probably another 6-12 months, save up some extra cash and see what comes up. Thanks guys, you all may have kept me from making a terrible 13,000 dollar mistake.

FYI my 04 silverado BRAND NEW with a 4.8L and a 5 speed - full power everything, cd player, air, carpet, etc. was only $15,800. That was with 6 miles

On a 2nd note, I also have a 4.3L 5 speed RCSB truck that used to get 16.9MPG all day long no matter how you drove it. Cold, warm, highway, in town. Didn't matter, it was always the same mileage. UNTIL for some reason when the truck got around 110K miles on it, it started getting better. I verified this with my GPS even since I was in disbelief. It went to the point that I now get 21-22 mpg doing the same driving in the same weather. It's just weird. Whatever though, I love my 4.3L. Tons of low end power for any job a 1/2 ton truck needs to do. Smooth and cheap to maintain. I say go for it.

Good grief man. Buy my daily driver. It gets 15.5 mpg on my daily commute of city/hwy mix.
