long story short- i have been driving my buddies cammed/stalled camaro and my wife has been driving my truck for the past week since i drove my wifes suv into a ditch

im driving home from work this morning on the freeway, and the car just dies, all the guages on the dash light up light a damn christmas tree, the speedo, tach, temp, oil press, and volts guage all peg out and stay this way until i coast to a stop and turn the key off and back on. the car started and drove the rest of the way home, but wont idle at all. i have to two foot it constantly. all the dash lights are still lit up, and the ses light is constantly flashing. i fuggin cant stand electrical problems, and i get to fix it

 

check any wires that can be near a hot source. may have melted a wire or something !

 

Definitely a short somewhere.

 

I don't mind fixing things that aren't mine when I'm getting paid for it But yea, freebees suck...time to grab your multimeter....

 

man sounds like you lost a ground or a power completely. enough to reset the pcm.

 

i hear ya. i hate that my girls family knows that i know how to work on cars. I'm expected to do everything for free. don't even get offered 10 bucks or anything. hell even my own grandpa tries to pay me 40 bucks just for changing his oil but i never take it

 

thats a ground problem sounds like.... ask around on 'tech, they should know more specifically whats going on with it.

 

I can't stand messing with electrical stuff. I agree with it sounding like a ground problem, but good luck with that.

 

PmTry being the only guy in the neighborhood with a compressor and tools. Gets old quick. I've started charging even my good buddies for ****. No more freebies!
