Default HPT VCM Scanner

Will I be able to scan / log my friends 1998 mercury grand marquis /4.6 L ?

He has cylinder misfires and after tune up we believe it to be bad coil pack/packs , I was hoping to pin down mis firing cylinders with my HPT scanner . Will this work ? I think it may but I'm not 100% sure .

Fords have individual DTCs for each cylinder that's misfiring. Not need for customs PIDs. Hook up to it and try to pull the codes. Worst thing that'll happen is it won't work
