well a buddy of mine wants me to go half on him with a bet on the superbowl, how does it work? lets say patriots and packers make it to the bowl and they got patriots to win by 21 points, and i bet $1000 on the packers. if they packers win, how much would i win? thanks

 

Are you betting the money line or the points?

If you are betting the money line, you are betting that the Packers will win the game. You would probably win about $2000 in addition to your original $1000 wager that you would get back.

If you are taking the points, you are betting that the Packers will cover the spread. That is, they will either win the game or lose by UP TO 21 points. If they lose by 21 then there is no action and you will get your original $1000 back. If you win, you will get your original $1000 back plus about $960 (with the other $40, called the juice, going to the house or bookie since that is how they make their money).
