Default Homebrewing Info

Since I enjoy making and drinking my own beer I thought it might be nice if I share a little about it to you guys. I thought about taking the time to do a nice write up on my brewing procedures, but as I thought about the time that would take and about how much good info is already out there I decided I am to lazy for that.. So instead I am going to post some links and info to what I think is good information.

First off I think this book is a must read for any who wants to start brewing.
Book Link

Here is a link to a short video that is similar to how I started brewing on the stove.
Beginners Brewing video

Here is a link to some videos that show closer to what I do today only I have a little different equipment setup and I brew 5 gallons at a time instead of 10.
All Grain Brewing

One very important thing that these videos don't address is Sanitation. It is very important to clean and sanitize everything that will come in contact with the cooled wort.

Here is a website that is full of great information. Check out the Library tab!
The Brewery

If you don't have a place locally to buy supplies from there are lots of places online to order from. Here is one of my favorites they have always been nice to deal with and have great prices. I haven't ordered from there in a while though since I moved near Tulsa and there is a nice place to buy supplies locally.

Well that should be enough information to get anyone who is interested started. Please feel free to ask me any questions you can think of. Oh I almost forgot don't forget to have fun and drink some beer!

I will admit I have made a batch or two that tasted like and had to be dumped out. In fact I didn't have a great brew day for my latest batch so I really hope it turns out good. The main reason for funky tasting beer is poor sanitation It's not that hard to make good beer. I would like to think that I can make beer as good as any ale you can buy in the store .
I really enjoy a good stout and pale ale, sometimes together at the same time... mmm Black and Tan. I'm not much for the lager type beers like most of the commercial stuff that needs to be kept cold in order to drink. Currently I don't even have a keg fridge to store my beer in so I usually just drink it at room temp. To me if it tastes like crap at room temp then its not really that good of a beer. I still drink some commercial beers now and then, but I much prefer a good microbrew.
As far as I know there is not a single micro brewery in the Tulsa area and the liquor laws in Oklahoma are from the 1800's which tends to make the price of good beer in the area ridiculous to me. In the neighborhood of $7-9 for a six pack of something like Guinness or Sierra Nevada. I can make 5 gallons for around $30-40 depending on the recipe. 5 gallons is right about 2 cases.
