Default Home theater powered sub help--which one?

I'm looking for a better powered sub for my 7.1 Onkyo set-up. I have an Energy 8" 200W rms sub now. I'm not impressed. I'm looking for a sub that will rattle the ice cubes in my drink. I'd like to stay under $400 if possible. What brand is the better choice? I'm not into name brands for names sake, I want quality sound. (PS I hate Bose so don't bother with that suggestion)
Polk Audio, Klipsch, JBL? I have a subwoofer pre-out on my receiver if that makes a difference. That’s how I’m running the current sub.

It gets the job done, and can be had on eBay for a $100. I've been using it for almost 2 years. Just need/want to upgrade now...see reason below

Reason: I'm getting a 63" plasma delivered Friday and I want the sound to match the screen

we've got a Definitive PROSUB800BLA and it adds quite a punch to our speaker system.

Im running a velodyne sub and a pioneer surround sound. The sub will out power the rest of the system, so now i have to upgrade the rest of it haha! Its a very nice unit, and good quality. They are a little pricey but well worth it if ya want some good quality!

SVS Home Theatre subwoofers - best of the best. I have one for over 5 years with no problems.

Not to side track or hijack but has anyone used an in-wall subwoofer?
Like to put a sub in but don't have a good floor spot but plenty of wall spaces.
