Angry Here goes another drive shaft and rear explosion

Well I got my transmission and transfer case back in on (1-5-10) and I had the truck for about 2 days and my drive shaft came a flying off of the truck. My universal joints snapped and my drive shaft got destroyed in the mean time when they broke. So I had to limp back home with it in 4wd just using the front drive. I had a new drive shaft made got that 1-8 and installed it at night out side in 25* temperatures and a red rock driveway, not fun. So went to put it into gear and it kind of jumped up and clunked like it was trying to do a power brake burn out and it would not move in D or R. So this morning I went out there and re removed the drive shaft and was going to jack it up and check it but I could just spin the yoke on the rear on the ground. So I got on phone with some locals from the site, and got a Eaton and some stock 3.73 gears.

I hope to get it installed tonight, just waiting for a buddy that has done rear's before to get off of work and get it done. I have only had my truck for 2 days since Christmas eve....

Hey man I hear ya on the bad luck. Just remember though, it could be worse. Sounds cliche but its true. Take my best friend for instance... We were out riding around one day and somehow all the bolts came out of his drivers front axle. Had to pull over, walk back up the road and find the bolts just to bolt it back in to go to the parts store to get new ones. 2 weeks later he turns out of the entrance at the rock quarry where he works and his rear end explodes. Get that all back together the next week and 3 days later his radiator popped on his way to work. I was off that day so I go get him, we get a radiator and we did a radiator swap in 10 degree weather on the side of the interstate. Get it all together and running and as we pull up the hill to his house his trans ***** the bed. Pull the trans and drop it off at our buddies shop to get fixed, get it back and put it together the next weekend. He drives it for a week and the trans acts up so we pull it and it goes back to the shop. Get it back and put it in one nite after work, go cruising around to break it in and we stop to get gas. He fills the truck up and we leave. The truck starts popping and sputtering. We figure bad gas so he decides to try to limp it home. Get 2 miles from his house and it starts getting worse and worse. He says screw it the damage is done so he drives it the rest of the way home. Start going through it and so much water was in the gas that it had gotten into the oil and smoked a couple rod bearings making it knock like a ****. How it never hydrolocked is beyond me. So he orders up a new crate motor seeing how that one had 189,000 on it. Get the new one in and running and finally after months of work and countless parts it runs like a champ. The truck now has an entire new driveline, (we also threw in a new transfer case just for grins when we put the last trans in), almost every sensor you can name has been replaced, its got an entire new injection spider and intake (its a 98 Z71), a new fuel pump, and the front end has also been rebuilt and gone through. He could have bought a new truck and modded the **** out of it for what he spent on this truck to fix it and keep it running. He loves the truck though so I guess thats what youve gotta do sometimes.

hey man i had the same problems out of my old tahoe my driveshaft came out about 70mph guess the ujoints gave out idk, but when i put the drive shaft back in that night i had the same prob id put it in gear and it wouldnt go any where i had to start in 1st and gradually shift out as i built up speed, ujoints broke once again the next day, i realized i didnt have my driveshaft in, and angled right, so i put it back together that day and it drove better then ever, but i still broke ujoints atleast 3 or 4 times a mounth, i dont know what causes it, it was lifted but not so high i had to change the pioin, **** just happens.
