Haven't noticed any threads on the topic yet. Listening to the news this morning and this chic who was one of the unfortunate to get laid off was bitching how unfair it was and bashing the Corporations statement (she says it was insulting)of how pricing of metal, fuels, and poor sales have caused the huge pull back in spending and closing of some plants. She was saying how unfair that her "great" pay and "great" benefits are costing her the job but the lower paid countries aren't getting the axe.
Hmmm...everybody realizes America wouldn't have such expensive products if it wasn't for the unimaginable labor costs right, granted costs of resourses aren't cheap either. I definitely feel for her and the other 29,999 poor souls that needs to find employment all of a sudden, but this isn't the last of stuff like this, especially in this magnitude. Keep your eye on huge corporations that sell big products and can't turn a profit 5 years in a row. Unions are great for protection of our workers safety and better working environments, including workers rights...but there has to be a better line drawn. These large corps definitely need union interaction, but enough is enough on these huge costs. Pretty soon (many years actually) nothing of value will be built on America soil.
When a company can't sell it's products and starts to tank...the overpaid labor and expenses go first. Just life.
(disclaimer...just stirring the pot...I work in an industry that was built by union people. Especially our safety. Not that I support them anymore but surely respect them(organization))

ya.. it is sad tho. Its not her fault she gets good benefits, lol.
But anyway, ya... seems like Toyota and Nissan is killing everyone in sales now. Looks like America is gonna have to make a comeback again. I heard sales for GM are looking up.. idk how much of a profit they are making... they cut prices across the board by like 3 grand i beleive is what ive heard.
