We had to have a cat put down awhile back. The cat had a very unique personality. It wasn't the same after she was gone. I didn't need an alarm clock, she woke me up at the same time every morning sitting on my chest.

We are considering having one of our dogs put down now. He is seemingly healthy, but the older he gets the more aggressive he it getting. He is 9 years old. Up until a few years ago he was just a big baby. He tried to get me a few months ago, he didn't appreciate the reaction I had in the least. He has been such a good dog until now, we are having problems with it. I have little 2 girls to think of. I really wish I knew someone that could take him. He would be perfect for a single woman. He picks one person he is very protective of, that's my wife.

Sorry about your loss. Nothing wrong with crying about it. It's good for you. Losing your dog (or any pet) is like losing a best friend.

I almost tear up just reading this and thinking about the day I lose my dog. I totally dread that day. She sleeps in my bed more than I do.
Best dog I've ever had and I'd hate to lose her.

Sorry to hear about that Zach. Was it the beagle in the picture of your new parts? Yep, just last week my dad had to put down my old farm dog Boyd (betcha can't guess his namesake). He was 13. He was a Golden Lab/Greyhound mix, so he looooved to run. During seeding time he'd chase the tractor all day, sometimes to the tune of 30 miles a day. That ended last spring when he had a seizure. He declined fast after that. For the last few months he could only be fed about an ounce of food at a time just to keep it down. But for the most part, he was happy. Then he got to the point where he could barely walk or stand, so it was time. Now when my sister's Labrador Retreiver Indiana comes to the farm, he can never figure out where Boyd went. I miss that old dog.

Sorry about your pooch, I know how you feel. He was cute. We had to put our German Shepard down when I was in my early 20's, she had cancer and hip problems and her quality of life disappeared. I rushed home from work to see her to say goodbye before my folks took her to the hospital and my step-father didn't wait for me and left before I got there...it was a sad time in my life. Tasha was about 13 or 14 when we put her down...my mother was crushed.

As PathfinderJr said, dogs truly are man's best friend
