im feeling lazy and have a motor and trans that are still attached. has anyone tried to drop it in at the same time? if so, what are the odds that i can do it with all of the accessories still attached lol.

next question. will the OEM exhaust manifolds from an 05 escalade bolt up to the oem Y pipe from a 2000 silverado? reason for using newer manifolds is to get rid of EGR system. thanks for any help!

 

You might could do it if you take off the upper rad support....but thats more work than separating the engine and trans IMO. The angle you would need with it there would be quite extreme...

 

the truth is one of the converter bolts decided it doesnt want to come out lol. it's fubar and i dont have a air hammer to chisel the bolt off.

 

Yes you can install them together. Just have to jack the front of your truck up pretty good and angle it right on in. I don't think you could do it with the accessories on and the core support. I've done them together with my old stroker motor/80e and it was fine, even with having to dodge the front diff then having to throw the tcase on. Should be cake for yours.

 

I installed my 347/80E with turbo hotside installed and all accessories attached, even had belts on it.

 

did you have to remove the core support? was the clutch fan part of the accessories lol.

 

core support was in the truck, it was a trick getting it hung right off the hoist but it went in easy, this is how I do most of them nowadays. Clutch fan wouldnt have gone, I had to pull the electric fans off the radiator too.

yep I've done it before without taking off the core support or front accessories. Cody is right, you have to get it jacked up just right and the engine hanging right.

 

I would think it would be just as easy to pull the whole front end in one piece, slide the motor trans in, put the front end back on.
