Default Driving for the McCain campaign tonight

Not sure what to expect, but I volunteered to help drive for the McCain campaign tonight. I guess I'll be piloting a big white passenger van around with guests and media and the like. Not sure if I'll get to be part of a motorcade or not, but that would be cool I'm taking my camera, so if if turns out to be a cool deal I'll take some pics. I might even get a chance to meet McCain. I've heard from some that one of the perks of volunteering for this kind of deal is a photo op with the candidate. Shitty hours tonight, 8pm to 2:30am, but I'm hoping it's worth it.

Yeah I guess...I'm not the type to push people or go door to door campaigning, but I do like driving, so this is my little way of helping out. Plus it would be badass to be in a motorcade with police escort. I was connected by a friend who has done this before, he said it's pretty intense when they get into a motorcade...driving 40-60 mph on surface streets, following secret service vehicles with gunmen in the back, blowing through traffic lights, trying to stay as close to the vehicle in front of you as possible. Sounds like fun to me

for sure. Did you have to go through any type of screening? $10 says you end up with bigfatdrunks in the back and $50 says one of them pukes and you have to clean it up

I had to give them my social security #, birthdate, address, and driver's license # for a brief background check. I don't care who I drive around, but I am NOT cleaning up puke, lol. The vans are rentals....sounds like the rental company's job to clean it up

Well that was pretty weak. They had 14 vans, 8 went in the motorcade and the other 6 (which I ended up being part of) got to shuttle the guests from the airport to the hotel, while obeying every applicable traffic law . One of the ladies driving in my group ended up with Lieberman and a couple other senators in her van, but that was about the extent of the "important" people that I recognized.

I have a couple of pics I snapped last night, will upload them later tonight.
