Dealer blew my motor

He's made up his mind. Its a done deal.
We all hate to see the man get over and the outrage spills over onto the little guy who's already in pain.
This thread is dead.

Persoanlly .. I would have taken the truck to another reputable shop, let them re test it and give a totally unbiased opinion.
Once he verified that make the dealer pay the other shop to put the motor in. I wouldn't be letting those gones touch my truck with a 10 foot pole from now on.
I know under TX law you have the right to pick and choose who worls on your own property. This is pertaining to body shops, but same principle. They will just file it on insurance and make money twice on it, once from the insurance, and again from you.

Sticks and stones man...
Doesn't bother me in the least that I am spending $1500 right now. My truck had 74k on it with 5k of that with the STS. All I am going to do is say I think I shouldn't have to pay, but I need my truck back. That leaves me open to sue them after the fact. Small claims court will take a minimum of a month and a half to two months. I don't think the credit card thing will work since I am using the card myself and signing the reciept. I am also inspecting the new engine before it goes in and watching them install it. They also agreed to take $1000 now and have me give them a postdated check. Worst case I got a brand new motor for $1500.

Sorry didnt mean to sound like an *** earlier but I hate to see someone bent over for sometihng from a dealer. I got screwed bad from a dealer on my S-10. If you are happy with the situation then I guess its no big deal. me personally I would have made them pay for everything but if you like the deal you are getting then great. Didnt realize you ahd 74 on it plus 5 with the turbo. These new motors though last a LONG time. My 5.3 had 180K on it and you could still see the factory cross hatch on the cylinder walls. I would really push for the 6L if I were you. They CAN drop one in there. Hope everything works out for you and you get a new motor out of it and dont have ot pay anything.

did they atleast give you the reach around
your probably hurting your chances of coming out ahead in court by agreeing to their deal but i understand you have to have your truck. take them to court for sure though. 1500 is alot of mod money

Your dealer sounds OK,so far.
I have a friend who took his Trans Am to the dealer he bought it from for something(this guy doesn't do any stuff himself)and they put about 200 miles on it. That place is under new ownership.
Yeah,if a hp car comes in,someone is going to want to "drive it".
Back in 71,I took my 340 Demon for a alternator bearing replacement under warranty. I watched the guy replace it and ,yes,he wanted to test drive it. I could tell he was a car freak so we went for a ride and he asked if he could speed shift it from 1st to 2nd. I was foolish enough to say yes and he missed the shift...all I could do was grimace.
Good luck...they sound OK.

man you should really think about fighting it. you already said you have another vehicle you can drive. i would give them a piece of my mind. also ill just about bet they are going to put a reman engine in there and make you think its going to be a new one. youll never be able to tell either unless you see the invoice where they bill it to the repair order

Set that beeotch at 600rpm and the speed limiter at 5mph and let them idle around the parking lot.
