I've found if you treat the cops like you've known them forever and don't show you're nervous or anything, they're pretty cool. Most of em are just dudes who wanted to drive fast and shoot at stuff for a living.

Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 4 inches of the windshield.
Front Side Windows Must allow more than 70% of light in.

as per the california vehicle code:

26708. (a) (1) No person shall drive any motor vehicle with any
object or material placed, displayed, installed, affixed, or applied
upon the windshield or side or rear windows.

Notwithstanding subdivision (a) (ABOVE), clear, colorless, and
transparent material may be installed, affixed, or applied to the
front side windows, located to the immediate left and right of the
front seat if the following conditions are met:
(1) The material has a minimum visible light transmittance of 88
percent.
(2) The window glazing with the material applied meets all
requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 205 (49
C.F.R. 571.205), including the specified minimum light transmittance
of 70 percent and the abrasion resistance of AS-14 glazing, as
specified in that federal standard.

items in red are where the problem lies...most tint has color...when the guys above are talking about being "blacked out"....thats not "colorless"...even with minimal tint...there is still "color" to it....

That must be old info because it is incorrect either way derek is screwed because of how dark it is, so ill have to have my cousin sign it off for him, but the law now allows 70% and colored tint, according to the DMV website, and my cousin who is one of the top CHP's also you can check out www.tintlaws.com for updated information on ALL states

this is the same thing that i found yesterday...but this is from the dmv website....

http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d12/vc26708.htm

Yes, what you quoted was in there.....(as is what i copy/pasted)...but you arent looking at the big picture here with those other words. I am a fan of window tint...but i am not a fan of tickets. and no, there are no colors allowed.....buyer-be-ware....you may want to ask your "top chp" cousin....he will let ya know the technicalities

idid he said it doesnt matter if it has color or not, and if it was no color then 95% of the vehicles on the road would be screwed since they come with 70/80% tint/colored glass from the factory.. the only thing it cant be is reflective tint.
