Any 4-stroke engine has a cam, and if someone made one, could be made to lope. Weedeaters and such with 2-stroke engines don't have cams, and probably can't be made to lope.

 

Why do that when you can turbo charge! All you need is a push lawnmower, water hose, pool hose, turbocharger, and some misc metal piping.

A friend made a nitrous cam for a 3 horse briggs one time. He welded and grinded on one lobe and JB welded the other tobe, to make it more aggresive. It was NICE haha. O We deemed it the nitrous cam when we put the hose of my 5 lb bottle into it carb and opened the nitrous bottle. Since it didnt blow we figured it worked. We even sprayed it at idle, and yes it did pull many more rpm.

 

I can make my riding mower do wheelies that's better then lope any day!

 

There are lawn mower races. I'm sure if you did a little googling you could find all kinds of performance parts.
I know a guy in El Reno that can hit 60+ on his. I watched him doing Donuts in his parking lot one day.
