Smile Computer components discussion

Hey there, I've been tracking the prices of a few computer components I've been looking at, and by golly, there are some special deals that seem to good to resist. Any other computer geeks out there that could give some feedback on these parts/prices?

Core i5-2500K @ $199.99 TxxxDxxxx.com
EVGA GTX 460 1GB @ $129.99 after rebate, maybe go for a 560Ti if I can find a deal on one for 190 or so.
Some P67 or Z68 Mid ATX mobo to compliment.
8 GB PC16000 DDR3 ram undecided.
64GB or 128GB SSD for OS and commonly used programs. I already have a 640GB WD black for storage, and a nice DVD-RW drive for CDs/DVDs.
Already have a nice Lian Li case and a 750Watt Corsair PSU.

I'm looking for this to be something I can game on (1920x1200 24" monitor), use AutoCAD/ Adobe products, and regular productivity/web browsing stuff.

Any other ideas? I was thinking this would be right around the best bang for the buck system, also forgot to say I already have a copy of Win 7 Pro 64 bit waiting to be installed. My final budget should be somewhere between $650 and $800.

Be sure that your board and SSD are both SATA-III so you can take advantage of the 6Gb/s transfer rate.

That processor is 220, not 200 from what I saw, I'd still say it'd be worth every dime.

I'd say you'll have one hell of a PC, especially for that budget.

Do the new SSD's even burst to 6Gb/s? Last time I checked, they weren't even close. We're not even surpassing the capability of 1.5Gb/s, as far as average read/write speeds go. Not to mention 6...

I have never tried the SSD stuff before... I have always been a SCSI guy... My current OS sits on a U320 15k 73gb drive, and storage sits on a SATA I 2T (4x500gb) Raid 0.. It is really fast. IMO the true bottle neck has always been the harddrive... Unless your a massive gamer or video editor, i think your pissing money away on all that memory and cpu, but that is just my opinion....

imo go with an i7, and that isn't a super great deal on the 460... go with a used 470 or 480 for about that price, and it would run much stronger.

For ram, I use Corsair, but I've also heard good things about Patriot.

EVGA motherboards all the way though

Special coupon code for that price on the i5-2500k processor.

Trying to figure out now if it is worth the money to spend extra for a SLC SSD drive vs. a MLC SSD drive. Data corruption potential and all taken into account? Maybe just make sure to back up that SSD all the time to a partition on my storage drive every night?

So you think I could find a 470 for under 150 used? If so, point me to them, cause I haven't seen them...

I was also thinking about a Radeon 6870 that I saw for coupon special price of 149.99. Maybe Cross fire that puppy later? Or SLI that 470 later.

Yea... My friend picked up an evga 480 for 199 within the past month. He is always scouting evga.com and it's forums, they also have a giant classifieds section, with lots of goodies to be found at great prices if you have patience
