Default Carpenters and DIYers come inside please

Looking for a good quality affordable compound miter saw for a big home improvement project that I have coming. Need something that can do 6" base moldings. Also if it has a bench that can go along with it all the better.

Thanks!

I used a Craftsman Compound 10" miter saw. To do all my crown moldings, chair rail, base boards, etc in my house. The saw worked great!!! However if I bought a new one I would want one with the laser. But I think the 10" will only cut up to ~5 3/4" so you will need a 12" which normally doubles the price.

the 10" was ~$100, the 12" is ~$200

If it is a really big project I would get a sliding miter saw. A lot more expensive but worth it IMO. I have a craftsman 10" too and it's great for time to time use, but if I was to go out and buy one for regular work or a big project I really like the Rigid 12" sliding
That one is reconditioned from the Home Depot for $379, regular price no recon is ~$499. Cheaper than a dewalt and I like the feel of the Rigid much better seems to have a more fluid movement.

it depends on how much you plan on using it. if its once every so often i would look at a cheaper craftsman. but if you plan on using it alot i would look into a dewalt, rigid, or delta because they will hold up a whole lot longer.

Check the local pawn shops. With construction slow you can probably get some great deals.

It is not a huge project, adding a master suite and renovating our kitchen. After that would just be minor projects. Looking at this one:
