You need the cooler for sure. Trans was getting up to 170-180 and it was only about 45 degrees out.

 

And you will soon find out that modding a truck is a terrible thing to do. Slow to start with, plenty of mods available, and they never feel fast enough. And to get them to the speed of a quick stock car, it'll cost you a small fortune.

But dammit, it's fun

 

wtf your set up is wrong then or your tune is way off... listen to these people...
i have a 4.8 nnbs like yours intake long tube headers 373 3200 stall.. tune .. and i smoke stock 5.3 nnbs or nbs like nothing...

 

Yeah I agree. I think your tune/stock converter is killing you. I beat a nnbs rcsb 5.3 with a 6 speed in my 4.8. all I had was cai longtubes y pipe and a flowmaster.

 

Just because it's cammed, doesn't mean its automatically going to be faster. It's all in the setup!! Converter and LTs will make a world of difference for you. It will be a whole new truck! Might even step up to some 4.10s.

Just look at mine...60' now is no different than when it was stock, but MPH came waaaaaay up. Needs converter/gears.

Too bad he's not racing against a NNBS truck.

A NNBS reg cab is a lot heavier than the NBS reg cab he's racing.

Right now the HP level is probably about the same, and he's at a weight disadvantage, so who do you think will win?

 

Lol yeah Im pretty sure if I had lts and stall I could smoke one too... Its close from a 30. We stay dead even at first and he slowly pulls away. My transmission tune is finished now and feels a little quicker, shifts faster, and the shift points have been raised and the cam pulls hard all the way till it shifts. But of course now I cant get him to race me again. We raced before when I was stock with 22s and I could beat him from a dead stop because he had traction issues so he will only race me from a roll. Ill get a vid if I can ever get e rematch
