How much smaller is the blackbear pulley? It's ok to overspin the alternator a bit but I'd be cautious of over spinning the bearings in the alternator. Maybe 7K rpm's was fine with the stock pulley, but if the overdrive is too crazy, it could be like spinning it to 8500RPM's under WOT. I could be exagerating but I'm just trying to give you some food for thought. What's the percentage of overdrive?
I have a ASP underdrive pulley on my 145a alternator and i shift at 7k often... My alternator is still doing fine..
