The carpet in our office has been getting pretty bad. The other day I tripped over a roll in it, then later that day, a customer tripped over it in another place.
I got annoyed and cut it up and pulled it out. I was able to pull it loose from under all the base boards, and cut it free from every where else.
The glue under neath was hard as could be and was unlikely to be removable. The office next to me tried to remove the glue with no success. They just painted their floor, and it has held up well. At some point, someone had put a tile section in front of the door, then carpeted over it. We scrapped up the tile, then starred at the floor for a day.
I remembered that I bought some PlastiKote bed liner when Lowe's was discontinuing the complete kits. I bought 2 - 1 gallon kits for $15.99. We cleaned and taped off everything. Then we experimented were the tile was.

Looked good so we did half the floor last night

The other half this morning

I let it harden then put on a second coat.

I pulled the tape and then did some went around doing some touch up. This was the end result.

It bled through the tape in some areas, and I really should have covered the lower 4 ft of the walls. The little rubber pieces like to fling as you run the roller. All in all, I am happy with how it turned out. I don't think I will have issue with customers tripping over it. Very curious as to how it will hold up.
Now, I need to get something done about my messed up walls. Baby steps though.

I had an emergency service call tonight. I had to run to the office to grab some parts, and after several hours, it still has a cushiony feel. Hope it stays that way.
Thanks for the comments. I am hoping that some cosmetic upgrades to the office will draw some business. It has become a bit aged.
