If you did diesel fuel it wouldnt really matter if you did 1.5 or 2 gallons, both have the same oil capacity. And the 4.8/5.3/6.0 all can accept the same oil filter on 99-07 gen 3 motors. The napa 30142 can be used on all just for reference.
I do prefer using transmission fluid over diesel though, I've let em run for 15min with trans fluid before.

I personally run the 1042 gold filters.
41042 is the platinum filter for synthetic oil.
I have never used diesel fuel, Only Trans fluid, marvel mystery oil, and various Oil flush products.
I find the transmission fluid does the best, I run 1 quart of trans fluid to 5 quarts of fresh oil and have even driven short distances on this combo.
Never hard, keep it under 2K and ease into the throttle slowly.
I have let them idle up to an hour. It's the heat that breaks things down with the detergent in the trans fluid and I have seen particles dislodge and and cause the liter tick to get louder.
I dared to rev a high mileage engine up a little and I thought for sure it toasted the motor. It collapsed a lifter and I thought for sure the engine was done. I tore into the top end to verify nothing was broke and that is when I noticed the dislodged particles likely to have plugged something up.
I let it run for 30 minutes and the cylinder came back how ever it still ticked.
I let it cool down and started it the following day. Virtually no noise until it warmed up. I let it run longer figuring If may have to tear into it any way. It must have broke up what ever was plugging the passage. The noise started to dissipate and I now start it once a week.
It will piston slap a little on start up some times but no lifter noise.
