Default Anybody here have a whole house stand by generator?

Been without power for 2 days now because of Isaac and tired of listening to this loud *** 5500 watt generator and having to keep feeding it gas. Freaking neighbors 1000 feet away has had power since yesterday around 6pm . No trees on the line, no poles down anywhere. Tried calling Entergy and that's a joke. Considering putting in a whole house generator and was wondering if any of you have one and if you do what brand and did you install it yourself. Seems like the most common is Generac Guardian.

Yeah..Generac is the most common, Have help move them around a time or 2..But nothing with the install...Those 5500 watt'ers you can still hook to your house, and if you have a boat you can just hook the gas line to your boat and let it feed off the boats tank...If you buy it from some company that does it,try calling in the winter time when there times get slow, might get a cheaper price..

Guy calls his house a compound. Reminiscent of something like...Jurassic Park. Awesome lol.
