thats what i was think, if they just overlooked it dort of like a cell phone bill. since most finance people dont really consider a cell phone as a plus or negative on your credit. did you also just up and leave from your apartment with absolutely no warning?

i was told by 3 apartment compexes yesterday that you must give 60 days notice, pay back any and all discounts you may have gotten when moving in and refunding your deposit is up to the apartment complex. all 3 said that was according to the Texas Renters Association or something like that. hope that helps (i only read the first page btw so this may have already been said)

Yes, this is true. I am in the apartment industry and if you break your lease agreement or do not give proper notice you are not only responsible for the remainder of your lease term but you will pay a reletting penalty and and any discounts such as three months free must be payed backin full. But also keep in mind if you have three months left on your lease and your apartment gets moved into two weeks after you move out they are not legally allowed to collect rent on the same apartment from two different people so they cannot charge you for the last two months. if I can give you any words of advise it would be to communicate with the apartment manager your situation and when you move out turn in your keys immediately . If they know you are leaving chances are they will push to get that apartment leased right away. The economy has put a lot of pressures on them to keep as full as possible and really they don't want to **** you over but there are such things as fair housing laws and we must treat everyone the same across the board and that means if you bend the rules for one you must do it for all. We really respect people who are truthful and honest and if they can they will work with you the best that they can to help resolve your issue but keep in mind sometimes they are not the real decision makers. make sure your place is clean as this will help them to turn that unit quickly and they will likely go easy on you if they see you put the effort to leave the unit looking great.

Went through the same deal, I told the manager I would fill the apartment. Put an add on craigslist saying I would put $350(half the rent for a month) towards there rent if they would take over my lease. Out clean and clear, however the manger took my deposit of $200. I would have owed north of $2k so I feel ok, only took 2 days to find a new tenant.

well ive tried to explain my situation but they really havent showed any emotion, just whats on paper. saying i need to pay reletting fee and then november and december rent. sucks cuz i still have to pay an appraisal fee for my house so thats more money there that i dont have, not to mention truck and insurance are due in a couple weeks

You did sign the contract, therefore agreeing to its terms. And to me, it sounds that it's clearly stated what the early termination fees are.
