your first mortgage payment will be deferred. so if you close in november, your first house payment probably will not be due until january.

you can also ask for a small extension on the first payment from the bank at closing. it never hurts to ask for the first house payment to be deferred to february of 2010. dont let them think its a deal breaker...just let them know that it would make everything alot easier for you. explain the apartment situation and chances are that they will have no problem with it. your tied in with them for 30 years or so anyways lol.
i didnt know you could do this, i'll have to bring that up

I guess I'll be the one that says you should fulfill your end of the contract.

However, I believe if you can find someone to take over your contract, everything should be in the clear.

Well that's pretty good then....$8K minus $2K still equals $6K.

You could always sublet the apartment.

or

Look hard at your rental agreement, the complex usually violates some aspect of the contract, usually minor, but it doesn't matter. Once they establish the standard of violating the contract terms, they open the door for you to do the same. They will threaten you out the wazoo, but if you don't back down, threaten them with litigation, they will usually give in. Its not worth the legal fees they will end up paying for $2K from you, just make sure that what you are claiming is verifiable.

or

Another option is that all rental leases have Military Clauses in them. This allows you to break the lease free and clear if you have orders to move duty station or have been mobilized.

I hate rental companies. They tell you that you have to pay the remainder of the lease, then they fill the apartment the day you leave. They are criminals. I say the hell with them.

i don't think you get the check until you file your income taxes... Just keep that in mind.
