130+ in a 65 zone....

meeting some buddies at the track Friday night... we linked up with 3 primered Civics on the way to the track as well LOL... I didnt fit in..
made a couple runs with a turbo integra and embarassed him each time...
anyway, coming down the Elizabeth City bypass on US-17 in NC, its open, and when I say open I mean WIDE *** OPEN.... we got stacked up behind a car hauler in the rt lane, and one by one, a civic would file off and pass getting back rt lane in front of him.... well, I was in the back and it was my turn... I pull out in the Lft lane, and jump in it doint about 75.... and when I passed them I kept going, absolutely NO traffis in either lane ahead of me... nice day, truck was running good so I figured I'd see what she had...
rounded 100 easily, 110, 115, 120...(speedo stops) Tach keeps climbing... I'm guessing I was doing about 135-6 when I finally got out of it. The truck was as smooth at 130 as it is a 50... I was pleased.
Slowed back down and let them catch up, fell back in line and we continued to run about 75 together in a pack for about another mile... when all of the sudden... red and blue come flying past us and pull all 4 of us over...
the cop walks up, almost smiling actually... license and registration... I handed it to him. I get the standard battery of questions... do you know how fast you were going, do you know the speed limit, why were you going so fast... etc etc... he says, hang on, let me go talk to these guys, I'll BRB... I'm sitting waiting, unscrewing the line of my bottle so he cant rape me for that... he walks back up
The car in front of you just admitted to doing 100+ and you went around him like he was tied to a tree... I'll ask you again, how fast were you going... I tell him... I really have no idea Sir. he walks away, talks to the other drivers... and comes back again and hands me my info... I was confused. I'm thinking to myself... jail is gonna suck...
he says, you dont know these guys driving these other cars??? I said, no Sir, I dont normally associate myself with people wearing mohawks and driving primer'd shitboxes... he kinda chuckled... (he had my mil ID too) He told me... "Look Son, I dont honestly care if you go 200+ on this road all day long... its nice and smooth and usually little to no traffic... but if I see you doing it again, I'm coming after you.. I dont care if I blow up my crown-vic catching you".... the next chance you get, go ahead and get back on the road... you guys have a nice day... slow it down a couple clicks"
I almost wanted to hug the guy... when I was pulling off, he gave me a thumbs up and said, "clean truck man...be careful out there"
-the funniest part was.. I saw the other guys at the track later on and they said they all got street racing tickets, reckless driving, excessive speed, and exhibition of acceleration... not to mention all the equipment violations... LOL...
-I lucked out BIG time....
