Congrats man!

HOLTY

I NEVER thought it would turn out like this! The wife and I had talked about me getting a truck again. I've always had a passion for trucks and this would be my 3rd Chevy truck to date. We had just bought a house and needed something to haul furniture and landscaping supplies from home depot and such.

Mainly though, just for general household chores it would be easier to own a pickup we thought. I knew i needed something with four wheel drive and it had to have a extended cab to haul our friends and family around in. Most importantly though, i was looking for something sporty because at heart, i'm a sport truck kinda guy. I came across my SSS used in 2005 at a local chevy dealer. i fell in love instantly and as soon as i test drove it, that 6.0L sealed the deal.

At first i was content, leaving it semi-stock by just adding a cold air intake and a nice sound system. That soon ended once i found pt.net and sss.com. It was all over then. My first goal was to just get the truck running better so i added a cat-back and a pcm tune from zippy. i knew i still wanted more, but i had to keep things civilized as this is my daily driver. I had bought the truck in late august of 2005 and by november, the truck had a supercharger and a full sound system.

After i added a nice security alarm, i decided i wanted to step it up and bought a set of 22" wheels (like the factory 20's were not nice enough lol). Since then, its been non-stop tuning, mods, and 1/4 mile runs and i'm having a TON of fun with this truck. Best of all, its still a great daily driver and I STILL haul dirt, mulch, and my street bike in the bed (not all at the same time of course).

Then, April 7, 2007 at approx. 7am, things came to a screeching hault. I was laying in bed that morning and got a call from my wife around 6:35am. She said she wrecked her car on her way to work into a guardrail off of her exit ramp. She was ok but wanted me to come look at the damage. I jumped out of bed and got dressed, fired up the SS and headed out. I got about 3/4 of the way there and hit some black ice. The roads were pretty bad that morning for some reason and the salt trucks had not come out yet. I slid off the highway at about 40 or 50mph. Slid down into an embankment and hit a tree. Got smacked in the face by my air bag and hit my head off the roof of the cab. Needless to say i was pretty upset.

Neither the wife or myself got injured, but the SS was down pretty hard. A state trooper called in a flatbed to pull me out and had it towed to a local shop which is owned by a family friend. Luckily i had taken out a custom insurance policy about 2 months earlier so the truck was going to be covered, but without that policy they would have totalled it and i would have been out a TON of money.

The frame was bent, the motor got pushed up into the firewall and part of the frame got sheared off almost completely. The shop owner let me do all of the mechanical work myself and i was able to save alot of cash to do some extra modifications.

After we ordered the brand new GM frame the new parts started trickling in. I upgraded the blower from a 112 to a 122, installed a WCCH custom grind comp cam, 918 springs, ported oil pump, push rods, ti-retainers, 60lb inj's, LPE 100MM Maf, and detailed the motor a little bit. The rebuild process was a long hard road since it was decided that the frame should be replaced. Since i was going that far i went ahead and did it the right way.

The rebuild took about 4months of long nights and even longer weekends. Some people now think i'm crazy because i don't drive my 4X4 truck in the witner anymore,....maybe i am, maybe i'm not, but i never want to go through that again. I'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking....

Plans for next season is to hit a 11.9X with only the addition of more tuning, than 11.5 with Nitrous. Best pass so far is 12.14@110 with 20inch wheels and still on the STOCK tranny!
