02BlueStepside: October 2006 TOTM
This month's TOTM was soponsored by JPA
It all started when I got my September 03 issue of Truckin. There was a black standard cab stepside truck that was slammed on the ground and packing plenty of power. From then on I knew I wanted a standard cab stepside truck that had to be a v8. Within the next month I was the proud owner of a 02 Indigo Blue Stepside truck with the 4.8L and an auto tranny. The only mod on the truck was billet inserts.
I figured I would start with the small, inexpensive things to satisfy me for a while. In less than 6 months I had a DJM 4/6 drop kit, a set of Centerline Stingray IIIs with 275/35/20 tires, and a Sir Mikes roll pan in the garage. From then on the truck has continued to take my money to make itself both look better and run better.
Exterior Appearance:
DJM 4/6 drop with a 1" shackle on the passenger side
Centerline Stingray IIIs with 275/35/20 Michelin Pilot Sport rubber
Tahoe grille with billet inserts and bowtie
Clear corners
Color matched Tahoe bumper cap
Truck Master Designs lower valance painted to match
Factory fog lights
Custom SS style fiberglass hood (non functional)
Painted factory wiper cowl
Tinted windows
Street Scene cal vu mirrors
Tahoe color matched handles
******** X2000 tonneau
Sir Michaels rollpan
Smoothed and painted tailgate handle/bezel
Carbon fiber tails
Removed badges, moldings, and pin stripping
Interior Appearance:
White face Escalade gauges
Katzkin 2 tone leather seats
Tahoe console with fiberglass mount for a Denali 6 disc changer and Driver Info Center
Llyod carpeted mats with Husky Liners over them for daily use
A-pillar pod and overhead console pod filled with gauges.
Performance:
Procharger D1SC with 2 row intercooler
Dynatech Supermaxx header system with high flow cats
2 chamber flowmaster
Holley 255lph fuel pump feeding 42lb injectors
Nelson Tuning
Taylor 409 wires
NGK TR6 plugs
Its a great looking truck that I get many complements on all the time. I have had several people tell me if I ever go to sell it to let them know first, but I don't plan on getting rid of it for a while. I have never had it at the track since I am more so into the show scene then the racing scene, but this doesn't mean I won't ever go. In my second show, Super Chevy at Atlanta Dragway, I won most outstanding truck for 88+ and that seemed to make all my efforts worth it. More than likely the only future mods will be to beef the tranny up a little so it can hold the power and a larger intercooler.
