That is a fairly small cam for that motor but would help either way..I would say step up to the 264,212/216??
Have you thought about a gear swap???

Seems like a real small cam for a 8.1, I'd look at the one Andrew mentioned. there are guys running that one in 5.3's and seeing little or no loss on the low end with no torque converter, so I would expect you to lose none, and maybe even pick a little up on the low end.

Lol 6k I hope I never have to get to 6k in the mud... Would I have to change out my springs on the 264 cam? Yeah Im thinkn bout the gears but not sure yet. Dnt want to get my mpg under 6. I get 8mpg rt now. Ive heard about a "double overdrive" that u add to ur transmission but dnt know much about it

You do have to change springs, I'm gonna go with the bigger brother of the 264, and I'm going to use the LS6 "yellow" springs that are on the heads I'm going to use. You can pick up a set of those for cheap... like 60-70 bucks.

Yes it would be best to change springs..
35's with 3.73's is killin the mpg..If you stepped up to a 4.30 or even 4.56 it would help performance mpg..

Well having bigger tires puts the rpm lower but being to low can make the engine work harder and thus using more fuel..Bringing the rpm back up will put it in the better power band..

I had 285/70/17's on my truck shortly after i bought it and didnt like how it pulled my trailer..So i went down to a 255/75/17 and amount of power it had after the swap was amazing..

Im still debating on going to 4.10 or 4.30 myself

Ok now Im going with the gears 1st but now I dnt know what type of differentials I have.. I have a 14 bolt in back I think its a 10.5?? Or can it be a 11.5?? And I have a 12 bolt in front I think its a 9.25... Im thinkn about 4.56 gears but can go with 4.88 according to the charts Ive seen. Anyone got any info???
