Big difference between a gas truck retrofitted with a turbo and a turbo diesel from the factory.

If you say so, show me why aftermarket boost is bad from a turbo but fine from a blower...myself I say the only advantage to the blower would be instaboost, turbo would shine everywhere else assuming sized correctly, intercooled correctly, and heat shielded/wrapped as needed

1800-2000F EGTs in the engine bay vs ~1200F EGTs under the truck, for one.

Diesels also make gobs of torque at like 1,500rpm because it's a diesel.

Blower is better for towing on a gasser.

I do not believe either combo would have egt's over 1800 with a proper tune, and I would be willing to bet the blower would have higher readings than you are quoting as well in a towing scenario.

Yes the turbo will get hot, I would certainly want the filter to be outside the engine bay, but the blower will be completely heat soaked as well and it's right on top of the motor with no place for the heat to go.

If underhood temps are truly that much of a concern to you the turbo could be placed elsewhere but imo which is just that I say not necessary, once again diesels do it all day and ecoboosts do it as well

Who's towing at 1500 rpm? The stock converter will flash higher than that before you barely even get rolling, yes blower has instant boost but the right turbo will make gobs of torque right where you will actually use it.

I guess my point was that yes diesels use turbo's but diesels also spend most of their time in the 1,000-3,000rpm range all day everyday even when towing. They also have larger displacement engines and the diesel engines are made to use the turbo to create the torque for towing. Also they run pretty crazy compression ratio's to make all that power, not something they do with gas engines.

There is just so much different between the diesel and gas engines. The way the blower will help with towing is better than most turbo setups. To me you'd have to sacrifice something going turbo.

A blower wouldnt be in the 1800 range, but turbos will under heavy load. Ive seen it with my own eyes. That type of heat affects everything. The blowers can deal with heat just fine even though they get hot the air going through them does not get near as hot since they are all intercooled.

Diesels run a much larger air to fuel ratio so load EGTs are much lower in the 1000F range.

You can certainly tow with a turbo gas engine, but its not recommended compared to the other options out there.

The ecoboost seems to tow just fine with a turbo.
