Default Towing with cammed truck??

Does anyone tow with your cammed/stalled truck? I was going to put a 228 cam and a stall in my truck but I still need it to pull my 14' enclosed karting trailer and a 20' car trailer but I'm thinking about not doing it now because it is the only truck I have to pull these trailers. Would I still be able to tow without tearing anything up or should I just leave the truck alone? Thanks for any help!!!

The cam is no problem at all for towing. But the stall I'd be weary off. I towed with a PT3600 and I wanted to pull my hair out. I'd do a mild stall at most or just keep it stock if you're going to be towing often. JMO.

I tow a big RV trailer with mine. No problem, I just load a tune that locks the converter in third at a fairly low speed. Getting going is the unsettling part but it's not too bad. The cam is no issue.

It will work fine and give you plenty of power, hell probably more power with the converter working in your favor in that sense, but the issue is with all that extra force you will be running really high RPM's, and putting a ton of stress on the clutches in the converter and creating a lot of heat. If its a tow rig and you haul decently heavy stuff there are only 2 real options in my book. TVS or a turbo.

i agree..
towing with the stock 4L80E torque converter and a good bit of power is like towing with a Stall.
from a dead stop with a heavy load it will sit up around 2700-2800rpms with 5psi.

i cheated on mine tho. i have my TCC to lock up only at very low TPS. Anything over 20% and its not gonna lock. and no lock up in third.
So i wired in a toggle on the dash for a TCC Override.
If im towing something heavy thru town or just taking it easy on back roads, ill get it up in 2nd gear and lock the TCC.
Just cant go but so slow doin that with a 1.48 2nd gear.

I wouldnt be scared to tow with that cam if the tune is good and you can get the Trans to stay cool. might have to drop a gear in the trans but you will be ok till the trans dies.
