Default removing a lift

I just bought a used silverado (04 4x4) with a 7" CST lift on it. Apparently, in order to pass through maryland state inspection (to get my tags), i need to bring it down to stock. i do not have the stock parts however. I don't exactly know what all was involved in giving this truck the 7" lift, but could i get an estimate on how much it would cost to bring the truck back down (parts and labor)??? thanks all

thats what i thought. I talked to my mechanic/old boss/family friend that is a licensed maryland state inspector. he said he wont touch a vehicle with suspension modification with a 10 foot pole because he could lose his license. I didn't ask, but I'm wondering if it is because i have to get an initial inspection to get my tags, and then after that no one cares (so people with lifted/lowered vehicles get the lift after their tags). i really don't know but he is an intelligent man so he's not just bull crapping. I live in Annapolis

I would start looking around for either shops or shady inspectors. There is going to be a fair bit of welding and fabing on the front dif and support behind it to get it back to stock. I would give you all my old parts from my lift but nothing would fit!

im at school in connecticut so im just running through the internet trying to find a shop who can give me a quote or an inspector that says a suspension lift is no problem. So far, no luck. I'm thinking inspectors dont want to say anything illegal over the phone.

so can anyone even make an estimate to the cost? $1000? $5000?

That's so lame... In CA I believe the headlights have to be at 51", my friend has a 90's silverado, and had to change his headlight style to down into the bumper and billet grill the stock headlight position. Looks kind of funny, just to pass CA requirements. Maryland sounds a lot like CA smog emission *****.

You could always do what my buddie did and rachet strap the suspention down to the right height. Or put some small *** tires on it.
