Basically I am trying to lift the truck 2" front and rear. I have a 05 Sierra 1500 and just got a Leveling kit from offroadunlimited with the torsion bar keys and longer shocks. I want to lift the rear a little so when I am towing the rear does't squat down. I was going to replace the oe 2" block with a 4" block but am not sure what brand will work. I know the new shocks are long enough. Has anyone heard of this or done it?

you sure the shocks are long enough? not saying there not but just ?ing it. did you ever think of an add-a-leaf?

any 2" lift block will work. must make sure your shocks are 2" longer than the stockers as already said. to help keep the rear from sagging when you tow the add a leaf would be better than the lift block.

You have the stock 2" block in there,so you have 3 reasonable options: take out the factory blocks and run 4" ones, install an AAL for the 2" of height/increased payload, or see if you can locate some 2500HD springs and run them...you'll get about 2" of height and increased payload(3 leaves vs. 5) Some lifted guys will practically give them away. The AAL or 2500 LP will be your best bets for heavy towing.

The shocks are 2" longer bilstein so I won't have a problem there. I had an add a leaf on my 2000 silverado with its lift kit and the ride was terrible. The rear bounced everywhere when the bed was empty. I am assuming the 2500hd springs would be rougher too. I think I will lokk for some 4" blocks and replace the 2" stock blocks. Thanks

yes this is true, theres alot of axle hop (guess thats what its called) you could probably get a set of blocks for pretty cheap for it, let me know if ya need em i got 1/2 ton u bolts for 4" blocks not sure if theyll fit but you can have em

I have 4" blocks and its kinda flattened out the springs which i dont like.

If I find some 2500hd springs are they a direct replacement with the the 1500 springs? Has anyone done this to a half ton truck and is the ride a lot rougher. The HD spring I am guessing wouldn't sag when I am towing like the 1500 spring do.

pm moregrip. he might have a set of hd springs he might sell. he swaped them out for a set of 1/2 ton springs

Yes, the HD springs bolt right in...just get some new U-bolts. They will ride just like a 3/4 ton...a little rougher in the rear compared to the 1500. But loaded down it will sag less and ride fairly well (3 leaves vs. 5). Don't forget you'll get that 1.5-2" of lift over your stock 1500 springs.

I know a guy did it on his 1/2 ton on GMFS...he was happy with the results and posted pics, too.
